Aamon
Aamon is an Archfiend god of Greed, with a particular penchant for knowledge: he most often appears as a remarkably well-dressed man, sporting a designer and completely anachronistic suit and tie; he is known for being generally disinterested in influencing the happenings of the world at large, far preferring observation and non-disruptive information gathering.
To this end, he, along with Alma, founded the Bloodline of the Five-leafed clover, a people that was sent across the globe and made to integrate with pretty much all populations within in.
While the vast majority of those who belong to the Bloodline are regular people and lead normal lives, sometimes Aamon plants among them what he affectionately calls "the seeds for greatness": experiments that, more often than not, create exceptional men and women, who lead their fellow men from the shadows.
Among them, Aamon selects some and calls them to join his Paladins, his only real "task force" that handles matters of utmost importance.
[It is also the author's direct intent to underline that in no case is responding to Aamon's call an obligation... Although, he does carefully select and call out to those who are likely to help him out in the first place. Seeing all the cards is always one hell of an advantage, you know?]
Faust is an example of this practice, although his case is far more unique: he was built as a copy of Aamon from the ground-up, to grant the Archfiend with the one knowledge he could never grasp for himself: what he would have been like as a mortal man.
Aamon resides within his Court, an ink-filled conceptual space that is filled with countless shelves, each stacked with books; it is said that even one page of one book within his library contains enough information to irrevocably change the world as we know it.
