Reverse Awakening

The The Reverse Awakening Awakening was a process completely theoretical in nature until Ego Breakers' prologue, in which a creature who has been Awoken has that knowledge and poweris forcibly removeddisconnected from their nature.own Oniric counterpart, either because of the Awoken themselves destroying it or by other less final means. The game's Protagonist is the first example of this happening. It is a pre-requisite for High Hubris.

Reverse Awakening basics

Despite the process being technically possible for any Awoken, throughout Naluund's history there was no incentive to perform it or even research it: as the name suggest, this process actively undoes the benefits brought by Awakening, and if not carefully mediated it will result into the death of the subject.

Hi!The process itself is, in concept, extremely simple: the Awoken is to travel to the Oniric Plane and slay their own Oniric counterpart.

This pagehas historically never happened because

• There was no reason anyone would try it, as it was (correctly, as we'll discuss in the coming point) believed to be equivalent to suicide.
• When bound to an Ego one's Oniric counterpart is rendered dormant and encased within the Ego itself, heightening its power while being protected in return: this would mean that to accomplish this task one had to rebel against the Ego they (and wholepossibly wiki)their comrades) had sworn to serve.
• Even if someone were to successfully slay their own Oniric counterpart they would be left stranded in the Oniric Plane in an extremely confused and vulnerable state, and thus inevitably fall victim to the local fauna.
• Having survived that, the would-be reverse awoken would have no identity or recollection of their past life nor would anyone who had ever known them: thus, any help one might need after such an ordeal would have to come from people who'd have become newfound strangers to the subject. Ara is one of the very muchfew underentities constructionthat socan sidestep this issue due to her unique nature, thus enabling Ego Breakers to take place.

If an Awoken were to go through with this process anyway they would require immediate medical attention to allow them to survive the ordeal: if youthey seeare saved from themselves and transported back to the material plane they would find themselves in a very unusual situation, as they would be bound to the Oniric Plane directly, without the mediation of an Ego.
